Maybank Singapore prevents loss of S$1.16m across 17 cases

One case sees a service manager prevent a S$37,000 scam.

Maybank Singapore, with help from the Singapore Police Force, revealed that it has prevented the loss of over S$1.16m across 17 cases between March 2023 and March 2024, the bank revealed.

In one case, Maybank Jurong Point branch service manager Brenda Tan prevented a customer from being scammed S$37,000, the bank said in a press release.

The customer was nearly scammed from text messages supposedly from her husband. Tan made the decision to escalate the case to Maybank’s Digital Banking Fraud Team. This then helped prevent the customer from losing their savings, Maybank said.
