SC Ventures, ENGIE Factory back conservation financing venture

The venture is expected to launch this year.

SC Ventures and ENGIE Factory have teamed up to invest in a venture that aims to fill the financing gap in conservation projects through carbon credits.

“Sustainability is part of our four high-conviction themes at SC Ventures — investing in conservation is not only a societal imperative but also a smart business decision,” SC Ventures CEO Alex Manson said in a statement.

SC Ventures is Standard Chartered’s innovation, fintech investment, and ventures arm, while ENGIE Factory is the startup studio of the ENGIE Group.

The parties will utilise technology in identifying and evaluating conservation projects globally, which will allow investments to come into these projects.
