Standard Chartered, Ant complete HKD intra-group transactions

Ant will make use of StanChart’s treasury management principles in moving funds.

Standard Chartered and Ant International have completed HKD-denominated intra-group transactions between Ant’s entities.

Ant International makes use of treasury management principles to move funds between entities using its Whale platform.

Both Standard Chartered and Ant International are participants of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s (HKMA) Ensemble Sandbox, which tests use cases for tokensiation.

Standard Chartered has been a member of its Architecture Community since May 2024, and is jointly developing industry standards and assisting in the design and implementation of the Ensemble Sandbox.

Ant International is also a participant in the Ensemble Sandbox, developing two use cases using its Whale platform. It worked with HSBC in successfully completing HKD-denominated cross-bank test transactions.

Project Ensemble is the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s (HKMA) wholesale central bank digital currency (wCBDC) project aimed at fostering the development of tokenization in Hong Kong.
