He has been ANZ country head in Germany for seven years.

ANZ has appointed Ender Tanar as country head for ANZ Japan.

Tanar is currently country head for Germany, a role he has occupied for seven years. Before this, he held senior positions at Lloyds Bank, Mizuho, KPMG, and JPMorgan Chase & Co.

He reports to Simon Ireland, managing director, international, subject to regulatory approval.

“There are significant opportunities in Japan, particularly in our Markets, Financial Institutions, and Debt Capital Markets businesses. I’m confident Ender is the right person to take our business in Japan into the next chapter,” Ireland said in the statement announcing Tanar’s new position.

“I’m pleased we were able to make this appointment internally, once again reflecting the breadth and depth of leadership we have across our international network,” Ireland added.

ANZ has had a presence in Japan since 1969.
