Bloomberg names OCBC world’s strongest bank
Aside from OCBC, DBS and UOB also entered the list of top 20 banks, wherein Canadian banks dominate with 5 entries.
Singapore’s oldest bank Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) has been named the strongest bank in the world by Bloomberg Markets in a ranking of 70 global lenders with assets of more than US$100 billion.
OCBC is one of three Singaporean banks that make the top six in the Bloomberg Markets ranking, with DBS Group Holdings and United Overseas Bank ranking 5th and 6th in it.
Another country that’s prominent on the list is Canada, with National Bank of Canada ranking 3rd and other four banks in the top 20. Number two was Svenska Handelsbanken AB of Sweden.
“We are delighted to be recognized as the world’s strongest bank. It is an honor, not just for all of us in Singapore, but also for the big family of OCBC Group in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia,” David Conner, OCBC’s chief executive officer (CEO), said in a press statement released on Monday.
