BSP assures continued cash operations and public services on Fridays

Government officials have suggested a four-day work week to conserve energy.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said that it will continue delivering public services, notably onsite cash operations, on Fridays as some officials suggest four-day work weeks to conserve energy.

Onsite cash operations at the central bank’s Head Office, at the Security Plant Complex in Quezon City, and at the BSP’s regional offices and branches nationwide will remain available from 9AM to 2PM on weekdays, the BSP assured in a statement on 23 March 2026.

This follows the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) suggestions of a four-day workweek for government offices to ease traffic and conserve energy amidst the war in the Middle East.

Oil prices spiked by as much as ($0.33 to $0.38) PHP20 to PHP23 per litre for diesel, on average, as a result of the conflict.

The BSP said that it will continue servicing onsite transactions involving BSP-acquired real properties and receipt of physical mails and documents from the public at the BSP Hub in Manila on Fridays.
