Higher costs weigh on Bangkok Bank’s Q2 profit
The bank's opex rose 9% from Q1 on accrued expenses and IT-related costs.
Bangkok Bank missed Q2 earnings forecasts due to higher operating expenses and lower interest income, according to UOB Kay Hian.
Net profit was $280.96m (THB9.5b) for the second quarter period, down 20% year-on-year (YoY). Net interest income (NII) in Q2 is also 1.4% YoY lower.
Operating expenses came at $590.02m (THB19.95b), down 1% YoY, but up 9% compared to the Q1 period. According to Bangkok Bank, the quarterly increase was mainly attributable to accrued expenses and IT-related costs.
Bangkok Bank had reported a net profit of $606.02m (THB20.492b) in the first six months of 2026, lower by 16.2% compared to the same period in 2025.
