Japanese banks’ total assets at $9.15t in Nov 2024

Banks hold $1.52t in assets overseas.

Domestically licensed banks in Japan have $9.15t (JPY1,447t) in total assets as of the end of November 2024, according to preliminary data from the Bank of Japan (BOJ) released in January 2025.

Deposits held by Japanese banks totalled over $6.28t (JPY993t) by the end of the same period.

The banks hold an additional $1.52t (JPY240.5t) in assets overseas.
