MUFG Bank to invest in life sciences investment fund

The fund aims to establish startups as well as develop and launch new drugs.

MUFG Bank has signed an agreement to invest in AN Venture Partners, a fund that focuses on investments in the life sciences sector.

The fund is managed by ANV Management LLC, a venture capital firm established in 2022 with the aim of “creating global life sciences companies originating from Japan,” a press release stated.

MUFG did not disclose how much it plans to invest in the fund.

The fund is ANV’s inaugural fund. Amongst its work include establishing startups, and developing and launching new drugs, through coinvestments with top domestic and international VCs by recruiting top-tier global executives.

ANV also aims to leverage the US biotech ecosystem and robust capital markets to efficiently commercialize Japanese scientific and technological innovations through an alliance with ARCH Venture Partners, according to a press release.
