MUFG Bank invests in Satellite Data Services
SDS will begin to commercialise its data services.
MUFG Bank has invested in Satellite Data Services Co., Ltd. (SDS), increasing its stakes through a third-party allotment of shares.
The Japanese bank joined Mitsubishi Electric Corporations, Integrated Design & Engineering Holdings (ID&E), Kokusai Kogyo, and ZENRIN in making the investment, amount undisclosed.
With the new investments, SDS has transitioned into a fully operating company and will commercialize its satellite data services, according to a press release on 2 March 2026.
Established in June 2021, SDS has been conducting studies and demonstrations in various areas, such as land and infrastructure management, rapid disaster assessment, and farmland and building management, aiming to develop and grow a market for satellite data utilization.
The five investing companies expect to accelerate the real-world deployment of satellite data solutions alongside SDS.
