MUFG breaks ground on new HQ with 2030 target completion

It will have a total floor area of about 169,000 square meters.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG) has begun constructing its new headquarters building.

Located at Marunochi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, the building has a total floor area of approximately 169,000 square meters (sqm) and occupies a site area of 10,846.96 sqm. It is expected to be completed by late October 2030.

The building will have 4 underground floors, 28, aboveground floors, and 2 penthouse floors. Its height is expected to be approximately 160 meters.

It will feature a museum and exhibition space, shops and restaurants at the first floor and the basement floors, outdoor and indoor plazas, and even a lounge or co-creation space at the fourth floor.  An area at the 27th and 28th floors will be a rooftop terrace and lounge.

The building was designed by Mitsubishi Jisho Design Inc., whilst construction is done by the M-Project Joint Venture (Obayashi, Toda, Zenitaka, Daisue, Tekken Construction).
