SMBC names 13 new managing directors across APAC

The promotions span a variety of roles both front-facing and in the middle and back office.

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Group has appointed 49 employees to managing director (MD) level globally, of which 13 are in the Asia Pacific and India region.

The promotions span corporate and investment banking, structured debt, and sales and trading, as well as technology, compliance, HR and legal, SMBC said.

Two of the appointments are based in India, while eleven are across the wider APAC region.

The SMBC Group is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, with over 150 offices and 120,000 employees worldwide.
