StanChart appoints Sandeep Das as private banking head
The move is part of the lender’s drive to its top management in South Asia.
Sandeep Das has been appointed as managing director and head of Standard Chartered Private Bank in India.
Mr. Das joined Standard Chartered Bank in 1991 and has worked at the bank ever since, the company said in a statement. Previously, he handled consumer banking in India and was the General Manager of Standard Chartered Bank's premium banking services.
This is part of a recent spate of changes to Standard Chartered's top management. Sanjeeb Chaudhuri was appointed as regional head of South Asia and group chief marketing office for consumer banking earlier this year and Saurabh Agarwal was named corporate finance head for Standard Chartered India recently, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
The private banking division since its inception in May 2007 is based out of Singapore and has 31 offices around the world. In 2008, the division had acquired American Express Bank.
