State Bank of India appoints Lax Seshan as UK marketing chief

Seshan will lead the bank’s push to promote its expansion across Britain.

The State Bank of India, its home country’s biggest financial services company, has appointed its first UK marketing chief to step up preparations for the expansion of its retail banking presence here.

Lax Seshan will steer marketing strategy for several soon to launch mortgage and wealth management products. He will oversee development of several products to be introduced over the next two years, according to a report in Marketing Week.

SBI currently has eight branches across the UK and is planning to open two more by the end of 2011. Further branch openings are likely in the coming years.
