India’s Axis Bank unveils in-app mobile OTP feature

Instead of text messages, clients can get their OTPs via their app.

Axis Bank has introduced an “In-App Mobile OTP” feature on its mobile app “open.”

The Indian private sector bank will generate time-based on-time passwords (TOTP) directly in the app instead of sending OTPs via SMS.

The bank expects the feature to enhance authentication security and protect its customers from rising OTP-related frauds and scams, according to a press release.

Users can use the Mobile OTP feature to log in into internet banking and can opt to use it for authenticating transactions as well.

It is accessible globally over the internet, Axis Bank said.
