Westpac to pilot new community banking service
The bank will invest over A$65m to modernize its regional network.
Australia’s Westpac has extended its moratorium on regional branch closures and will pilot a new community banking service.
The pilot program will be launched in partnership with local councils, with plans to deliver a visiting banking service to three regional towns.
The Australian bank will also invest over $65m to renovate its existing regional network with a modern fit-out.
The Australian bank had implemented a pause on regional branch closures in 2023 and had extended its moratorium until 2030.
