SBC Bank to issue JCB cards in Cambodia

Cards will be issued soon.

Singapore Banking Corporation Ltd (SBC Bank), a Cambodian commercial bank, and JCB International Co., Ltd, have signed a memorandum of understanding for SBC Bank to issue JCB cards in the near future.

JCBI is the international operations subsidiary of JCB, the only global payment credit card based in Japan. JCB is a major global payment brand and a leading credit card issuer and acquirer in Japan.

SBC Bank said the acceptance of JCB cards will open up a world of financial freedom to JCB card members visiting Cambodia for business or pleasure. JCB card members can use their cards at over 500 SBC Bank merchants and access over 100 SBC Bank ATMs by the end of 2013.

SBC Bank is also the first JCB eCommerce acquirer in Cambodia to provide an online payment gateway service. This payment channel will enable merchants to accept online payments in fulfilling various need-based services such as reservations, booking, ticketing, shipping and bill payments in a secured manner.

The number of tourists visiting Cambodia came to 3.6 million in 2012, a 24% increase on-year. This total is expected to rise to 7.5 million by 2020.
