StanChart Vietnam joins Smartlink network

Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam became the first international bank to join the Smartlink card alliance network.

Accordingly, Standard Chartered Bank cardholders will be able to perform all basic transactions including cash withdrawal, balance enquiry and PIN change at over 5,000 ATMs and 26,000 POS of 30 Smartlink’s member banks nationwide.

They could also save time using Smartlink’s bill payment service, as they can carry out payment such as mobile phone subscription, e-flight tickets, utilities bill, etc. at Standard Chartered Bank’s ATMs.

Louis Taylor, General Director of Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam, noted that the move marked a significant milestone for Standard Chartered Bank in its expansion and development path in Vietnam.

“2001 will see rapid growth of foreign lenders in Vietnam as they would be treated fairly as domestic banks”, he was quoted by VietnamPlus newswire.

Nguyen Tu Anh, CEO of Smartlink said “The move will significantly support for cooperation between Smartlink and and Standard Chartered Bank in diversifying premium financial services to meet local customers’ rising demand”.
