Alipay+ accessible in 11,000 SG Hawker Centre stalls

Users of the platform and partner e-wallets can pay through the SGQR.

In collaboration with Singapore's top payment services group, Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS), Alipay+ has now been incorporated into SGQR.

Users of Alipay+ partner e-wallets can pay via SGQR at around 11,000 stalls at NEA hawker centres, HDB coffee shops, wet markets, and JTC industrial canteens in Singapore. They can do so by opening their e-wallet apps and scanning the SGQR code displayed at the stalls.

“With Alipay+’s integration into SGQR, it makes it more convenient for foreigners traveling to Singapore, by enabling them to pay with their home e-wallets which they are familiar with. Tourists no longer have to worry about trying to find the right amount of cash to pay in a bustling environment like hawker centres.” said Cherry Huang, General Manager of Alipay+ Offline Merchant Services, Ant Group.

The SGQR is the first globally standardised QR code for e-payments that combines multiple payment schemes into a single label. Merchants can display the SGQR code to indicate the available payment options, allowing consumers to make informed choices.

Alipay+ is compatible with six partner e-wallets in Singapore: Alipay (China), AlipayHK (Hong Kong SAR, China), Touch 'n Go eWallet (Malaysia), GCash (Philippines), TrueMoney (Thailand), and Kakao Pay (South Korea).

Since 2019, one of Alipay+'s partner e-wallets, Alipay, has already been integrated into SGQR.
