Alipay, Macau Pass expand partnership for Lunar New Year
Macao Government Tourism Office estimates an average of 185,000 daily visitors.
Alipay and Macau Pass expanded their partnership amidst a sharp increase in visitors from the Chinese mainland (MCVs) due to the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The partnership introduces Alipay Tap! across more commercial districts and tourist attractions in Macao.
Since its initial launch at Sands Resorts Macao on 14 January, the service has been rolled out to over 1,000 merchants, covering restaurants, retail outlets, and popular tourist destinations such as the Ruins of St. Paul’s, Rua da Cunha, and Portas do Cerco.
The Macao Government Tourism Office estimates an average of 185,000 daily visitors during the holiday and anticipates 39 million visitors throughout 2025.
The programme offers not only a seamless payment solution but also exclusive discounts. Promotions for Chinese New Year include a RMB2 discount per transaction (up to 10 transactions) and rebates up to RMB98 based on spending thresholds.
Additionally, users can collect coupons for discounts of up to RMB888 on their first 10 transactions through the Alipay app.
