Alipay’s QR payment tap solution surpasses 100 million users
Ant Group said that it is investing CNY10b to grow the Alipay Tap! ecosystem.
Alipay says that users of its Tap! solution has surpassed 100 million.
Alipay Tap! is its QR code-based contactless payment and customer engagement solution, which Alipay first introduced in China last June 2024.
Unlike the scan-and-pay model involved in QR payments, Alipay Tap! only requires users to tap their unlocked phone against a merchant’s terminal or an Alipay Tap! Tag.
With this, users don’t need to open their app, scan a code, or click through multiple screens.
Ant Group said that it is investing CNY10b ($1.37b) to grow the Alipay Tap! ecosystem.
