AU Small Finance Bank launches digital payment service for Indians abroad
The service allows payments for domestic transactions.
AU Small Finance Bank (AU SFB), India’s largest small finance bank, has launched Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services for its Non-Resident External (NRE) and Non-Resident Ordinary (NRO) account holders using international mobile numbers.
The rollout follows the National Payments Corporation of India’s directive permitting UPI transactions via international numbers.
Customers in Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, the UAE, the UK and the US, can now link their NRE or NRO accounts to UPI without requiring an Indian SIM card.
The service allows non-resident Indians (NRIs) to make payments for domestic transactions including utility bills, money transfers and merchant purchases. Customers can register for
UPI through their international numbers and access digital banking services without additional charges.
