MUFG eyes enhancing intra-Asia flows, sustainability, O&D in FY2025
They are looking into AI as a means to adopt more sustainable and digital practices.
MUFG’s transaction banking team in APAC will prioritise enhancing intra-Asia flows, sustainability, origination & distribution, and digitalisation in FY2025, a senior banker said in a statement.
The bank also stated its commitment to its collaborations with its partner banks across Southeast Asian markets, according to a written statement by Belinda Han, head of transaction banking for Asia Pacific, MUFG Bank.
Partner banks include VietinBank in Vietnam, Krungsri in Thailand, Security Bank in the Philippines, and Bank Danamon in Indonesia.
Han said that she and the leadership team of MUFG’s transaction banking arm in APAC also discussed opportunities and challenges in adopting more sustainable and digital practices.
“This includes using artificial intelligence to collect quality data on scope-3 emissions, ensuring that the supply chain is green-certified without passing the costs to the consumers,” Han wrote.
Some of MUFG’s products such as sustainable trade finance solutions help clients meet their ESG objectives, thereby increasing the value of their organisation, she said.
