Taiwan credit card balances edge down in May

The balance of revolving credit and undue balance of installment both fell.

The balance held by Taiwan-issued credit cards fell in May, data from the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) showed.

The balance of revolving credit was NT$113.4b, compared to NT$114b in end-April 2025, according to official data. The amount of undue balance of installment also declined and stood at NT$156.7b by end-May compared to NT$161.8b as of end-April.

Monthly write-offs fell to NT$0.6b from NT0.62b in the previous month.

The average ratio of delinquency credit against account receivables remained unchanged at 0.3%.

A total of 39.54 million credit cards were active as of May 2025. These were issued by 32 credit card-issuing institutions operating in Taiwan.
