Citi, India review push to accelerate solar, hydrogen growth
Citi CEO Jane Fraser met Indian PM Narendra Modi ahead of the bank’s 125th year in India in 2027.
Opportunities to expand India’s alternative energy capacity, including solar power and green hydrogen, were a key focus of the meeting between Citi Chair and CEO Jane Fraser and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to a statement from Citi, the talks also focused on how India is building out its broader investment landscape and what that means for capital flows into the country.
“The prime minister shared his vision for accelerating growth and economic momentum to achieve the objective of Viksit Bharat 2047,” the group said.
The meeting also addressed the international expansion of Indian companies and the kind of backing they may require from global financial institutions.
Artificial intelligence was part of the agenda as well, particularly how regulation could influence its development and where it might be applied to boost productivity and economic activity.
In 2027, Citi will mark its 125 years of operations in India.
