Azimo partners with Alipay to offer instant money transfer to China

Customers can now send money directly to a bank account linked to the recipient’s Alipay ID.

European money transfer fintech Azimo has partnered with Chinese payments platform Alipay, allowing customers to make an instant transfer in yuan, an announcement revealed.

Through the partnership, customers will be able to send money directly to the Chinese bank account linked to the recipient’s Alipay ID.

“In a world where Amazon can deliver a parcel on the same day that it is ordered, we believe that instant transfers should be the standard user experience for remittances. With instant or one-hour transfers available to over 80 countries, Azimo is making that experience a reality for over a million customers in the last year alone,” said Richard Ambrose, Azimo’s CEO.

It is now possible to send money to more than 200 countries and territories with Azimo from more than 25 countries across Europe. The service is also expected to launch in Hong Kong later this year.

“We look forward to working closely with Alipay for global remittances, as we continue to explore new ways to apply our technology in order to benefit more people globally,” said Dora Ziambra, Azimo’s Chief Operating Officer.
