Alipay, Mastercard enables visitors to transact digitally in China

Regardless of the origin of their Mastercard card, travellers can opt to choose this payment method.

Mastercard and Alipay, Ant Group's digital open platform in China, have introduced a new payment solution for tourists to the Chinese mainland. 

The joint service by Alipay and Mastercard provides a payment method for visitors exploring the Chinese mainland, regardless of the origin of their Mastercard card. 

Individuals can easily link their existing Mastercard credit or debit card to the Alipay digital wallet, eliminating the need to create or fund a separate prepaid account.

Through Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS), overseas card transactions made via the Alipay digital wallet are processed using Mastercard's comprehensive omnichannel payments platform. 

This allows merchants of all sizes to accept payments from anywhere in the world, supporting business growth and ensuring secure transactions for consumers, both domestically and internationally.
