Mizuho, Shinhan ink cooperation agreement to service start-ups

They will provide financial services to start-ups in accordance with start ups’ growth stage.

Mizuho Financial Group has inked a business cooperation agreement with South Korea’s Shinhan Financial Group.

Under the agreement, Mizuho and Shinhan will facilitate business collaboration in the field of innovation, including in identifying promising Japanese and Korean start-ups, for which the two promise to provide growth support and assistance with their overseas expansion.

This expands on their earlier alliance, which first began in 2006, when Mizuho Bank and Mizuho Securities signed an agreement with Shinhan Bank and Shinhan Investment Corp to collaborate in corporate banking. In 2017, they expanded their alliance to the group-wide level and signed a comprehensive business cooperation agreement with Shinhan FG.
