HitPay enables SG merchants to accept overseas QR payments

SG merchants can now accept regional e-wallets through a single code

HitPay has launched a new feature that allows merchants in Singapore to accept payments from overseas visitors using foreigners' country’s e-wallets through a single QR code.

The product, called Borderless QR, enables merchants to generate transaction-specific QR codes by entering the sale amount and selecting the customer’s country in the HitPay app.

Tourists can then pay using their preferred wallet, with merchants receiving the payment in Singapore dollars the next day.

The service supports regional QR systems such as PayNow (Singapore), PromptPay (Thailand), QRIS (Indonesia), QR Ph (Philippines), and VietQR (Vietnam), as well as WeChat Pay from China and India’s UPI.

Initial rollout markets include Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

HitPay said the launch targets growing tourist spending in Southeast Asia, which is projected to reach $39.52b by 2026.

The region is dominated by small businesses, with micro, small, and medium enterprises accounting for about 97% of all firms.

The company reported that its transaction volume doubled in 2025 and that merchants on its platform saved more than $10m in fees during the year.

Non-card payment volume has increased exponentially since 2020, and the platform now serves more than 20,000 merchants.

HitPay said the feature also supports ASEAN’s regional payment connectivity efforts by allowing small businesses to accept cross-border QR payments without integrating multiple systems.
