Cathay United Bank Ho Chi Minh Branch secures win for Syndicated Loan of the Year - Vietnam

It has been the MLABU of Vietnam’s largest syndicated loan facility to date with VPBank.

Cathay United Bank Ho Chi Minh City Branch (CUBHCM) has been awarded Syndicated Loan of the Year – Vietnam at the prestigious Asian Banking & Finance Corporate & Investment Banking Awards 2026, recognising its pivotal role in arranging Vietnam’s largest syndicated loan facility to date.

The landmark transaction—a US$1.56b Green Loan Facility for Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank)—not only set a new benchmark for deal size in the local market, but also underscored CUBHCM’s capability to structure, coordinate, and successfully close one of the most complex and strategically significant financings in Vietnam.

This achievement marks a defining moment for Vietnam’s syndicated loan landscape, highlighting both the growing scale of sustainable finance and CUBHCM’s leadership in delivering innovative, high-impact solutions.

At the same time, CUBHCM successfully structured and syndicated the transaction across multiple lenders. Broad lender participation reflected confidence in both the deal structure and CUB’s distribution capabilities. The final financing terms also met VPBank’s funding, pricing, and tenor objectives whilst remaining attractive to investors.

Its success was driven by strong transaction management, robust distribution capabilities, and deep client engagement, factors that enabled the bank to secure and execute mandates of unprecedented scale and complexity without delays or structural changes.
