
Citi nabs BofA banker to lead Chinese banking operations
Wenjie Zhang will join Citibank (China) in July 2025.
Citi has appointed Wenjie Zhang as Citi Country Officer & Banking Head for China, and president and executive director of Citibank (China).
Zhang was most recently the president of China business and the Shanghai branch manager for Bank of America China. He will join Citi in July 2025 and will be based in Shanghai.
He will act as the lead Citi representative and as the single, coordinated face in the Mainland China market.
He is tasked with leading the Citi team to deliver the full value of Citi network to its clients in the market and foster strong regulatory relationships and robust risk control.
Zhang brings 30 years of experience in corporate and institutional banking.
Prior to joining BofA, Zhang was co-head of global banking and executive vice president at HSBC China.
He has also worked at JP Morgan and Credit Agricole CIB. He started his career in Sinochem Group.
