Standard Chartered appoints Petter Sternby as head, SEA financial institutions strategic coverage

He joined the bank on April 8.

According to a release, Standard Chartered has appointed Petter Sternby as Head, South East Asia Financial Institutions (FI) Strategic Coverage. Based in Singapore, Petter will report to James Pearson, Global Head of FI Strategic Coverage. Petter joined the Bank on 8 April.

In this role, Petter will be responsible for deepening relations with the Bank’s strategic FI clients in Southeast Asia. He will also provide investment banking solutions and coverage to the Bank’s Asian FI clients.

Petter brings over 20 years of investment banking experience to Standard Chartered. He was most recently with Nomura, where he headed the Asia FIG team. Prior to Nomura, Petter was head of Nordic Investment Banking with Lehman Brothers in London, and also previously held roles at Morgan Stanley where he worked for 12 years.

On the appointment, James Pearson commented, “We are very pleased to welcome Petter to the team. Petter’s extensive experience in Financial Institutions coverage and investment banking in Asia will be invaluable in enhancing the Bank’s client focused strategy. The Bank is well positioned in Southeast Asia and we look forward to Petter’s leadership as we further expand our business in these rapidly evolving markets.”
