HSBC Singapore appoints new board directors
CEO Wong joins as executive director, and a retired EY partner also joins the board.
HSBC Singapore has appointed Wong Kee Joo as executive director to its board, whilst a retired EY Singapore partner Winston Ngan is now the bank’s independent non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee.
Wong’s appointment to the board follows after he was announced as CEO of HSBC Singapore on 1 June. Wong has over 26 years of banking experience across different markets including the UK, Thailand, Hong Kong and China.
Most recently, he served as HSBC’s regional head of global payments and cash management (GLCM) for the Asia Pacific region. He held the role beginning January 2015 before taking over as CEO of HSBC Singapore.
Meanwhile, the new independent non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee, Ngan, has more than 26 years of professional services experience, including stints with EY Singapore and Canada.
Prior to his retirement, he reportedly led the EY Financial Services Assurance practice. There, he oversaw 1,300 audit professionals across ASEAN, including Singapore.
Ngan was also a member of the EY leadership team managing the financial services assurance practices across APAC.
