CIMB skills up Malaysian graduates with 6 partners

CIMB pioneers human capital development programme.

CIMB Group signed a partnership agreement with six partners – PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Accenture, DraftFCB, Teach for Malaysia, HP and ZICOlaw – to offer local graduates a dual-track programme designed to broaden their knowledge and cultivate varied skill sets. Under the CIMB Fusion, a first of its kind human capital development programme, graduates will have the opportunity to gain invaluable working experience in one of the six disciplines in addition to banking and finance with CIMB Group.

At the signing ceremony, CIMB Group was represented by Hamidah Naziadin, Head of Group Corporate Resources, while PwC was represented by Pauline Ho, Assurance Leader; Accenture by Goh Aik Meng, Country Managing Director; DraftFCB by Renganathan Tharmiah, Chief Executive Officer; Teach for Malaysia by Dzameer Dzulkifli, Co-Founder and Managing Director; HP by Datin Lim Bee Wah, General Manager, Enterprise Services Malaysia; and ZICOlaw by Chew Seng Kok, Regional Managing Partner.

The signing was also witnessed by Tunku Besar Seri Menanti, Tunku Ali Redhauddin Ibni Tuanku Mukhriz, Trustee of Teach for Malaysia, Dato’ Sri Nazir Razak, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group and Johan Mahmood Merican, Chief Executive Officer of TalentCorp Malaysia.

In her speech, Hamidah said, “CIMB Fusion is an innovation that breaks conventions in recruitment, talent development and cooperation among employers. Our experience tells us that the younger generation or Gen-Y’s are a curious and impatient lot, hungry and always wanting to experience more. CIMB Fusion provides them the perfect opportunity to try different things in a structured manner while enjoying career stability.”

CIMB Fusion is a two-to-four year programme where selected candidates will first begin with one of the six partners to acquire a technical foundation, followed by a series of placements within CIMB Group. Upon completion, candidates may choose to continue with CIMB or join its partner.

“In our view, CIMB Fusion delivers on two unique propositions - an enabling environment that fast-tracks talent growth and nation building. Firstly, the programme provides an enabling environment that allows the Gen Ys to expand their knowledge, skills, network and experience, by working with the best employers in Malaysia at the start of their careers. Secondly, we would have contributed to the Malaysian talent pool by building a generation of future leaders – leaders who are technically competent, extensively networked, and well exposed to international best practices,” added Hamidah.

CIMB Fusion has received the full support of Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp). The programme objectives align with TalentCorp’s mandate to nurture globally competitive local talent to drive forward the National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs) under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).

Johan Merican, Chief Executive Officer, TalentCorp Malaysia commented, “CIMB Fusion is an innovation in talent attraction and retention. Employers who would otherwise be competitors for talent have collaborated in a way that it is a win-win situation for both talent and the participating companies.”

To date, a total of 22 graduates have been accepted into the programme and CIMB Group is expecting to recruit a further 30 by year-end. For more information, interested applicants may email [email protected].
