Malaysia encourages presence of Japanese Banks

Strengthening Malaysia's links with Japan.

Japanese banks helped achieve this with its increased presence in Malaysia, according to Bank Negara Malaysia Governor, Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz.

She pointed out that due to this, the expansion of trade between Malaysia and Japan averaged at 8.7 percent for six consecutive years.

"In this world of increasing connectivity and linkages, Malaysia is pleased to host a diverse group of foreign financial institutions, many of which like the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, have a long history and deep roots in our local economy.

"Along with such institutions, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ has been an important part of the development of Malaysia's domestic financial system and our economy," she said.
