
Action recommended against ex-Gurkha Bank officials
A meeting of the NRB Board of Directors on Tuesday recommended action against the former Gurkha Development Bank officials, employees and creditors as per the Banking Offense Act.
Nepal Rastra Bank had declared the GDB problematic due to its bad financial health and the officials were found involved in irregularities that pushed the bank to near collapse.
The bank has listed the name of former executive chairman Damber Bahadur Bomjan and board directors Ramesh Tamang, Mina Shrestha, Nirmal Gurung, Dhan Prasad Rai, Mahesh Prasad Rijal, Sanjeev Kumar Mishra and Dinesh Shakya, among others, for the irregularities.
The reserve bank has also asked the government to conduct investigation into the scam. The NRB has also requested the government to seize their passport and freeze their properties.
Similarly, central bank has also suggested action against Rajendra Das Shresha, credit Chief Dipak Rana Magar, if found guilty, as per the Act. Besides, the bank has also recommended action against borrowers Jivan Ghimire and Sanjeev K. Agrawal and former board member Prabin Naulakha.
