Alipay enables in-store payments using AR glasses in China

Users will confirm payments using their voice.

Alipay has enabled in-store payment using augmented reality (AR) glasses by Rokid in China.

Users can link their Alipay account to their Rokid Glasses, an augmented reality (AR) device, via the Rokid app and enable voice verification.

They will only need to order their glasses to pay, such as “Rokid, pay 10 RMB”, the payments giant said in a press release.

The glasses will then scan the merchant’s Alipay QR code. Users confirm by voice, with payment details shown on the display.

Alipay and Rokid expect transactions to be completed in seconds hands-free, instead of the 20 to 30 seconds for phone-based QR payments.
