Citi reels in new head of commercial bank for Korea
He has over 23 years of experience in corporate banking.
Citi has appointed Jaewon Hwang as head of Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) in Korea, where he will oversee business growth, operational management, and financial performance.
Reporting to MS Yoo, Citi Korea’s chief country officer, and Gunjan Kalra, head of CCB for Japan, Asia North, Australia, and Asia South, Hwang is set to drive Citi’s strategy in the Korean market and strengthen client and regulatory relationships.
With over 23 years in corporate banking, Hwang has held key roles at Citi, including parent account manager for a major Korean corporation and head of the Top-Tier Local Corporates Division, where he contributed to Citi’s corporate banking expansion through capital management and product diversification.
He began his career at Citi Korea in 2001 and has since held various positions, including as Business Development Officer in Los Angeles and Head of the Korea Desk for North and Latin America in New York.
Hwang holds a degree from Korea University and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
