SeaBank Philippines rebrands name to MariBank Philippines

Both the central bank and local SEC have granted approval for the corporate name change.

SeaBank Philippines, Inc. (A Rural Bank) is changing its name to MariBank Philippines Inc. (A Rural Bank).

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) approved the name change on 21 April 2025, with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) granting its approval on 31 July 2025.

The corporate name change follows after MariBank, the Singapore-based digital bank, acquired SeaBank Philippines in April 2025. Both MariBank Philippines and MariBank Singapore Banking Group are part of the Sea Limited Group, the parent company of e-commerce giant Shopee.

MariBank Philippines currently operates under a rural banking licence. It was rebranded from Banco Laguna, Inc. in December 2021. Banco Laguna Inc, began life as the Rural Bank of Pagsanjan in December 1965.
