SMBC Group establishes offshoring hub in Chennai, India

The offshore hub will ensure stable systems development and operations, the bank said.

The SMBC Group has established the SMBC Global Services Private Limited in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, as a global offshoring hub.

In a statement by the Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMFG) and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), the group said that it will use the offshore hub to ensure stable systems development and operations, whilst also expanding functions to support a broader range of the Japanese megabank’s businesses.

SMBC Global Services Private Limited is scheduled to commence operations sometime in October 2025.
