Alipay+ enables QR payments in Mongolia for 12 foreign e-wallets

The e-wallets are from SEA, East Asia, and Italy.

Alipay+ has partnered with Mongolia’s Khan Bank to enable 12 foreign e-wallets to be used for digital and mobile payments in the country.

Users of the e-wallets and payment apps— who come from Asia and Europe— will be able to pay via QR code in all merchants that carry the Alipay+ logo. These include hotel chains, restaurants, department stores, and cashmere outlets, according to a press release by the China-headquartered digital payment giant.

These e-wallets include Alipay (Mainland China), AlipayHK (Hong Kong), Tinaba (Italy), MyPB by Public Bank Berhad and Touch ‘n Go Digital (Malaysia), GCash (The Philippines), Changi Pay and OCBC Digital (Singapore), Kakao Pay, Naver Pay and Toss Pay (South Korea), and TrueMoney (Thailand).

Local merchants can also create promotions, distribute digital coupons, and offer discounts to e-wallet users of the super apps thanks to Alipay+.

From now through October 2024, users of AlipayHK, MyPB, GCash, OCBC Digital, Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, Toss Pay and TrueMoney are granted a 10% instant discount when making a purchase on Khan Bank’s POS terminals.

More mobile payment service apps are expected to join in the months to come, Alipay said.

Recently, Alipay teamed up with Mastercard to launch an international program for travelers visiting Shanghai.
