Australia’s Zip teams up with Primer to accelerate US expansion

Primer is expected to help drive distribution of Zip’s BNPL services in the market.

Australia’s payments platform Zip has partnered with Primer, a global payments and commerce platform service provider, to empower its growth in the US market.

Under the partnership, Primer is expected to help drive distribution of Zip’s buy now pay later (BNPL) offering. There are also plans to add Zip as a payment option in Primer, the Australia-founded company announced in a press release.

Primer is expected to support Zip to access and connect new card acquirers and processors, fraud and communication tools to boost top line, whilst leveraging features such as fallbacks to reduce operational costs and build for contingencies.

“BNPL services account for a mere 2% of all payments. Our partnership with Primer not only accelerates Zip’s growth trajectory but also positions us to seize this colossal market opportunity in a scalable and sustainable manner,” said Zip co-founder and US CEO Larry Diamond, noting America’s US$11t total addressable market.
