ING names Deepali Bhargava as head of research, APAC chief economist

Bhargava joins from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.

ING has appointed Deepali Bhargava as the new head of research and chief economist for Asia Pacific.

Bhargava was most-recently the director and head of South Asia macro, global marco, and asset allocation at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR).

Her expertise includes identifying macroeconomic trends, forecasting economic and earnings cycles, and providing strategic insights into interest rates and currency movements to facilitate investment decisions across asset classes, ING said in a press release announcing her appointment.

Bhargava began her career in ING Vysya Bank in Mumbai.

She succeeds Robert Carnell, who led ING’s Research team in Asia Pacific since 2017 before retiring.

She holds a BA Honours and an MA in Economics from Delhi University.
