Citi launches rewards card with first API partnership

Cardholders can offset purchases using their accumulated points.

Citi integrated its rewards programme Citi Pay with Points with 24-hour online shopping mall HKTVmall, marking its first API partnership in Hong Kong.

The service allows cardholders of Citi-point bearing cards to offset purchases using reward points on the HKTVmall website or mobile app, according to a press release.

“We are excited to be launching our first API partnership in Hong Kong with a like-minded company that is renowned for and committed to ongoing innovation and providing best-in-class customer experience,” said Citibank Hong Kong head of cards and unsecured lending Lum Choong Yu.

To offset purchases, users need to complete payment using their credit card, perform a one-time identity verification and select the amount due.

“Citi Pay with Points has been a phenomenal success and extremely well received by our cardholders as it makes spending with a Citi credit card all the more rewarding. Today, close to 50% of reward points redemptions are conducted through the Pay with Points platform,” Choong Yu added.
