Singapore’s NETS boosts touchless payment options

Consumers can now use their Mastercard and Visa debit cards to make NETS contactless payments locally.

Singaporean payment services, Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS), has been collaborating with banks and providers to expand its contactless payments and make them accessible.

NETS  recently partnered with various industry players, resulting in more consumers gaining access to the NETS tap-to-pay system.

Consumers can now use a range of bank cards, including standalone NETS-only ATM cards and Debit Mastercards from major banks such as DBS/POSB, HSBC, Maybank, OCBC, and UOB, to allow contactless payments through NETS.

In a recent collaboration, NETS worked together with Visa and local banks to integrate NETS contactless payments onto existing contactless Visa Debit cards, alongside PIN verification.

This allows cardholders to make NETS contactless payments without having to switch to a new card. Through this system, most NETS-enabled cardholders in Singapore can now use their cards to make contactless payments through NETS.
