Alipay+ says that it has now connected 2 million merchants in Japan to 16 e-wallets and banks.

In terms of value, digital payments made by apps accounted for 10% of total spending amongst users during their stay in Japan, said Douglas Feagin, president of Ant International.

The most popular e-wallets used were Alipay, AlipayHK, Kakao Pay, Touch ‘n  Go eWallet, GCash, and TrueMoney.

MPay, NaverPay, and Toss are also seeing rapid growth in transactions, Alipay said.
