Macau Pass and Alipay roll out tap-to-pay using mobile phones
Users will no longer need to scan a QR code, just tap their unlocked device in a terminal.
Macau Pass and Alipay have launched a tap-to-pay service in Macao.
MPay Tap! enables users to pay by tapping their unlocked phone on an Alipay Tap! Terminal. At checkout, users no longer need to search for a QR code. The device must be unlocked before the payment can be processed.
In tandem with the launch, Macau Pass and Alipay have launched an introductory promotion where customers are offered an instant MOP 3 off on their first MPay Tap! transaction each day.
Discounts will also be offered throughout December 2025.
In mainland China, Alipay Tap! reached over 200 million users in just over a year and is expanding to over 400 cities, 5,000 brands, and millions of retail outlets worldwide, Alipay said in a press release.
