Maybank Offers Six-month Moratorium For Flood Victims

Maybank is offering a six-month moratorium for flood victims till June 30, 2012.

The moratorium covers monthly instalment payments and waiver of certain charges based on a case-to-case basis, reports Bernama

Maybank said the disaster relief assistance programme will also be extended to businesses, small and medium enterprises and consumers affected by the recent floods in Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak.

"This is the fifth such moratorium Maybank is offering customers since 2007 in line with our mission to humanise financial services," said its deputy president/head of community financial services, Lim Hong Tat.

Lim said the programme was aimed at reducing the difficulties faced by customers.

"Some of our customers have been affected by the floods and may need reprieve in their financial obligations at this crucial time," he said. "We are therefore offering this assistance as a humanitarian gesture to assist them to
focus on their other commitments for the time being."
