HSBC appoints David May as head of equity research in Asia Pac

Chris Georgs was also appointed as global head of equity research.

David May has relocated to Hong Kong to take on the role of Head of Equity Research, Asia-Pacific, and is responsible for developing and expanding the equity research franchise in Asia.

Mr. May said: “Asia-Pacific represents a significant opportunity for growth and we look forward to building on the critically important equity research franchise that we have in the region.”

Chris Georgs, who has successfully let the Asia-Pacific Equity Research team for the last five years, has been appointed Global Head of Equity Research. In this newly created role, Mr. Georgs leads the equity research team globally and is pivotal in helping to standardise and maximise the contribution of HSBC’s global equity research proposition.

He focuses on the continued development of the asset class globally and ensures it is aligned with the strategic initiative of building out HSBC's global equity franchise. In addition to his global responsibilities, Mr. Georgs has specific regional responsibility for equity research in Europe and CEEMEA. He is now based in London and reports to Stuart Parkinson, CEO of Global Research.
