Citi appoints Stella Choe as head of corporate banking for Australia and New Zealand

Stella Choe's appointment as Head of Corporate Banking for Australia and New Zealand is effective immediately. In this role, Stella will report locally to Tony Osmond and regionally to Gerry Keefe. She will also continue to lead the Financial Institutions group within the Corporate Bank for the time being.

Stella brings a wealth of corporate banking experience to the role, having served in senior positions with HSBC, Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan in Asia, Europe and the United States. Stella joined Citi in 2014 as Head of the Corporate Bank, Financial Institutions group, Australia and New Zealand. She has successfully expanded the team, had relationship responsibility for some of our most important clients, helped to deliver strong growth in revenues, and supported her clients on a number of large transactions.

Here's more from Citi:

We are delighted to promote a banker of the calibre of Stella who, aside from her success serving our clients and building the Financial Institutions business, has worked tirelessly to enhance Citi’s brand in the Australian marketplace, participating in numerous external events, panels and conferences. Stella has also served as a formal and informal mentor to many women in Citi and the broader financial services industry.

Stella will replace Shane Taylor who has decided to retire after many years of service. We would like to thank Shane for his tremendous leadership of the Corporate Bank over the past eight years. As a testament to that leadership, our clients have recognised our Corporate Bank as the top-rated foreign Corporate Bank in Australia for the last five years. Shane will stay on for several months to assist in the transition process.

Corporate Banking remains the fulcrum of our strategy within CIB to grow our market position, revenues and client base throughout the region. While we are highly regarded in Australia and New Zealand, our aim is to broaden even further Citi’s impact and relevance in the market. Stella and the whole Corporate Banking team have our complete support in executing that mandate.
